(NET NEWS)

NET NEWS: "Labour Speakers along with Joseph Muscat tried to ridicule Lawrence Gonzi. Joseph Muscat said that it was a contest between Gonzi and Casper the friendly ghost. Evarist Bartolo mentioned that that it was still part of the carnival."

Since when have they become so sensitive? I think Joseph Muscat was quite generous, stating that Gonzi had a contest with Casper. You see, if Gonzi contested with Casper, at least he would have some sort of competition. It's a bit shameful going for a contest on your own. That's why Evarist said that it was still part of the carnival, as no one enters a contest on his own, for his own. It's just a big joke.

I like the fact how Joseph and Evarist ended up on NET news for this small issue. I think NET news forgot to mention that we actually have ministers going for a piss and ridiculing television reporters. They could have forgotten it, these things happen after all.

What's even more shameful about this video is the way Mosta's Local Council is mentioned. Why doesn't PN enlighten us as to what happened in Sliema? Why is it always Mosta? The difference between PL and PN is that PL admitted their mistakes, whilst PN are no where to be seen, trying to make the Sliema local council issue a myth and hoping that everyone forgets it.

Joseph and Evarist, I guess you owe PN an apology, you see, they're so sensitive to your comments.

I can't believe he won! It was so close!

You see, he deserved the result. He was actually the most hard working contender for this contest. The contest was very close, so it he must be very happy to win. I reckon the Maltese people were all glued to the television set to watch this most awaited result between Dr Lawrence Gonzi, and himself and only himself, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi.

The one and only, PN leader Dr. Lawrence Gonzi faced the challenge yesterday against, NO ONE. Gonzi contested for the election by himself. What's even more unbelievable is that there were also people cheering for this 'so amazing result. They can't be serious, cheering for someone contesting by himself.

What was this contest for anyway? What did it solve in our country? Did this improve stability in our islands? Why is Gonzi so happy with the 96.5% result? He didn't get the excellent result he wanted. It was theoretically a one man race, the only one of which contender so happy of winning against no other. What a complete joke that was.

The Labour Party is proposing free wi-fi in every locality. Something beneficial to anyone wanting to grab a laptop and relax in a public area such as a quiet garden.

Quoting Dr. Gonzi:
"Dan x'inhu dal- 'wi-fi'? Mela ma ndunax li ghamilnieh kullimkien kwazi diga'?"
"Il- mara tieghi qaltli spjegalhom xinhu wi-fi!" ehehehehehe! "Dan xinhu dal- marelli wi-fi?"

Then he pretends to tell us what wi-fi is and why it is used.

No Dr. Gonzi, apparently Joseph Muscat failed to realize that wi-fi existed everywhere around us, and it's not just him. A certain TV programme, "Illostra" tested your "ingenious" wi-fi and searched for wi-fi hotspots around specific localities such as Attard, Gharghur, Safi, Iklin, San Pawl, Siggiewi, and Swieqi, all of which hold local councils with a PN majority.

It seemed that wi-fi was present only in one out of eight localities - Balzan. In localities such as Attard, wi-fi was tested just near the wi-fi sign, but apparently no wi-fi was found eighter. In Siggiewi's central area, there was no wi-fi signage, thus obvously no wi-fi was present.

And by the way dear Prime Minister, we all know what wi-fi is, how it works and what it is used for, probably better than yourself. Do not repeat Giovanna Debono's brilliant speeches, by telling us that we don't know what  an interactive white board is. Pathetic.

Although I was going to write on this issue, I was 'kind of' enlightened by an idiotic comment of an Anonymous person:-
"Not going to comment on this? Where's you'r biased perspective?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQG5CxuIXFw"

This was a video published by PN's online newsletter, Maltarightnow. I don't really know what is the big issue here, if you decide to call it an issue anyway. All I see is Joe Debono Grech expressing his wishes to see PL led by Dr. Joseph Muscat governing the country.. He said that this is a battle against the Nationalist Party. Debono Grech also mentioned that we need to get rid of this 'parasite' PN government, and elect PL which will focus on making Malta a better country for us and for the future generation.

I don't see why PN are insulted when fronted and told that they have brought the country at a bad state. They even wept when Moody's lowered our credit rating, with Tonio Fenech arguing that it was not fair. We are not getting signs just from what PL are saying, but also from worldwide companies such as Moody's.

Then, Joseph just reminds everyone to vote, as it is their duty and their right as democratic citizens to vote in an election. What's bad with that?

What really worries me once again are the PN Hamalli comments which incidently Maltarightnow decided not to moderate. Some of which, similar to the ones of timesofmalta, have the same 'Babaw' reasoning.

Ignorance? Where's the ignorance?

ivaflimkien looks at guido's mother. What a pathetic little boy who's still lost on insults rather than the main point.

Craving for power? How about someone who keeps ruling without even having majority in parliament? How about someone who only works on what he wants rather than to maintain stability in our country? YAQ!

Professor Deknoiid tells us how all Labour supporters are on drugs. Farku  lil - Malta? Do you even have a clue what labour has done in his years?

What's bad with someone who really wants to work in the government?
Babaw reasoning. For a change.

Again, a comment by a little boy. Shame

Mintoff was today discharged from hospital after undergoing nine days of intensive medial care. He was admitted to hospital after suffering from a severe chest infection and congestive heart failure. Sources said that he had been responding well to the treatment given by the hospital, thus his medical condition has improved.

Mintoff, probably the best Prime Minister Malta has ever seen, manages to stay healthy and to overcome medical problems over and over again. Well done to the brave Dom Mintoff.

This news gives a sweet response to some particular people praying for his death a few weeks ago. At the age of 95, Mintoff managed to literally 'troll' you once again. Yes, you probably all know who they are, and who made it clear publicly.

A big well done goes to Dom Mintoff as he managed to win another battle.

PL candidates for March Local Council Elections. A total of 196 candidates from 34 different localities. 57 of which, are young people many of whom joined the PL during the START programme. 42% of the election candidates are facing the elections for the first time.

How about PN candidates? Where are they anyway? How long will they wait to start their campaign? All I see are individuals on my Facebook page, begging for my 'likes.' Some of whom even giving you the possibility to win a free meal if you like their page! Why aren't candidates officially presented yet? How about their proposals?
But anyway, just 23 days left for the elections and gonziPN have not yet started their campaign. Is this fair on the people? Citizens should be given to enough time to reflect on what to vote during the elections. Certainly gonziPN's team should wake up and start their campaign if they really respect the citizens afterall.

Automatically, WH- questions are asked:-

WHERE do you stand with gonziPN?
WHAT are they proposing?
WHO are they?
WHEN are they going to wake up?
WHY are they taking so long? Are they trying to use this as an election tactic?

DO they really care?

According to a Special Eurobarometer Survey, a large number of Maltese citizens think that corruption is one of the major problems in Malta, particularly in the branch of building permits, politicians and the judiciary.

The situation is quite alarming, as 88%, 14% more of than the EU average think that Corruption is a major problem across main institutions across a national level. 500 people participated in the survey. The main institution considered as corrupt by the Maltese is MEPA, having 60%.

What is really alarming is that 52% of the Maltese think that corruption had increased in the last three years.

Makes me wonder why MEPA is ranked on top of the list, quite fishy.

It's also very fishy, the fact that half of the respondents think that corruption is increasing, especially in the last three years. I wonder what is causing so much corruption these days.

Still boasting that Malta is better than other countries? Including Italy, which is one of the main problems of the Euro Zone?

  • Austria: outlook on Aaa rating changed to negative
  • France: outlook on Aaa rating changed to negative
  • Italy: downgraded to A3 from A2, negative outlook
  • Malta: downgraded to A3 from A2, negative outlook
  • Portugal: downgraded to Ba3 from Ba2, negative outlook
  • Slovakia: downgraded to A2 from A1, negative outlook
  • Slovenia: downgraded to A2 from A1, negative outlook
  • Spain: downgraded to A3 from A1, negative outlook
  • United Kingdom: outlook on Aaa rating changed to negative

Well I guess, someone should have got this message. Malta was downgraded to A2 credit rating (Moody's), the same as Italy. I think, as Joseph Muscat said, this should serve as a clear warning to the government and to anyone supporting it. This shows us that we are not doing so well as those in power are proclaiming.

Still Gonzi keeps on telling us, that Malta is on the right track. This was the second downgrading in a few months. The PM mentioned that Malta is being competitive and attracting business.

Dear PM, are you talking about projects such as Smart City? What happened to that anyway?
Competitive? According to the world competitiveness report we are ranked #50 under Italy and several other EU countries.

Isn't this enough to show you that Malta is not doing so well under your government? I'm sorry to say but this just makes me sick.

I was also amazed when reading some comments on timesofmalta.com . Clearly some people have a pathetic and 'PL = Il- Babaw' view. Just look at this nonsense:-

And I would also like to ask them a few questions.

So K.Vella, JC. Borg and Joseph Scicluna, why not try to tell us how to solve this rather than blaming PL? PL is in the opposition afterall, so I guess it surely couldn't be their fault. And dear Joseph Scicluna, your comment is excellent. You're just getting lost in making fun of others rather than being serious.

Lily Vella. Verita? Take a look at what's around you, the results we have, with an unbiased nationalist facing mind. You'll soon get stung by another type of 'verita.'

And the award for the best comment goes to Tony Agius!

As if after 25 years of PN rule we are doing anything but drowning. Congratulations Mr. Agius, keep up that mentality. If PL win next election, be sure to watch out for the Babaw waiting on your doorstep.

Retired? Friend of George Pullicino? Well, you could get a free job with a good pay and some nice benefits.

Well at least that's what his full time direct advisor, Arthur Apap managed to get. A sum of €6000 monthly pay, and as if it wasn't enough, benefits such as paid mobile phone facilities and a €290 cash car allowance just in case he runs out of fuel. The contract given to Arthur Apap, was a four month contract.

Arthur Apap was given the contract since he is an intimate friend of PN and the minister. Obviously no interviews were needed to sign the contract.

This also reflects the way on how the government is trying to reduce his total spending on government workers. Since they are working so much on this issue, this minister just gave his friend a job with an immense wage of about ten times as much than his entitled pension, along with his benefits.

Good work Mr Pullicino. It's good to have friends around.

The PN youth section, MZPN took part in the Anti - ACTA protest yesterday morning.

MZPN said it attended the protest as its participation "underlines the importance that the Internet has to the younger generations. The Nationalist Party has given birth to, and revolutionised information technology in Malta."

MZPN also described PL's stand as a shallow position.

A few questions do arise though.

Why had MZPN limited themselves to just participating in the protest, while they are one of the closely affiliated groups to the party in government? If they really meant business they could have taken up the matter to the higher organs in the party.

So MZPN do not stand with PN's position? Is the party facing problems even on this issue?

MZPN describe PL's stand as "shallow." How about Simon and David's stand?

However, if their stand was really genuine, I would like to congratulate them as it is not easy to have a different opinion from that of the party.

May I be excused please?

Not much to say, facts talk for themselves. Austin Gatt is just a simple image of PN's recent arrogance. According to Austin, all they did during the PN executive meeting was a session of "pipi." Shame, a minister making fun of a reporter, who only asked him details on the meeting. Austin is showing up to be nothing better than an average PN Hamallu.

Here is the clip:

Thursday, 9 February 2012

Being a former student of St Augustine College, it was impossible for me not to hear that the college was holding a protest this morning. Other former students who were my classmates also asked me to attend. I was disappointed that I couldn't make it.

From what I've heard and read there were about 300 parents, students and teachers who gathered to protest. The protest was held as MEPA refused the college's permit to build an extension to the existing college, which will be used as a primary school. A petition was also presented to the prime minister. According to MEPA, the plot where the project was proposed is an urban conservation area, although that part is just nothing more than an abandoned piece of land. It is just some 'green' trashed area situated around huge buildings in the heart of Pieta'. The newly proposed premises by the college was not even expected to be visible from the nearby streets. The project was intended to permanently move primary students to the new building instead of using temporary classes at the minor Seminary.

Is this the way the Government is working on our education? Disapproving building permits for primary schools? What a shame!

This situation leaves the parents of about 150 children in a worried situation. What will happen to them, and where are they going to studying next year? There is also uncertainty about 20 teacher jobs at the college.

The college has been working on building extensions before I used to attend. I remember all the efforts the college committees used to make in order to raise funds for these kinds of projects. It's not the amount of money invested in education, it is how it is spent, and how effective it will be. Certainly this was one good way to invest it. Too bad that after all those efforts they found MEPA making their lives more difficult. Rector Fr Scerri also expressed his disappointment, stating:-
"If we want to give our students the best education, we cannot let them transfer from one school to another at different stages of their education. We are trying to build a primary school which gives the students a clear transition from one level to another. We know the challenges of having mixed ability students in the same classroom at secondary level, and helping them during their early years is beneficial for them."
So much for all that boasting on education investments and job creation. Today we have the primary education of 150 children and 20 jobs at stake.

What's even more worrying is how projects for educational purposes in urban areas like these are refused, while other projects intended for personal use are approved despite the fact that they are proposed in the heart of green areas.

"B'Gonzi mohhok mistrieh" - Does this still apply?

According to the Maltatoday survey published yesterday, I rather think not. A majority of 46% made it clear that an election should be held. Rather than just the election question, there were other questions in the survey. 40.6% of the people surveyed seem to trust more Dr. Joseph Muscat than the present PM. Only 28.3% trust Gonzi more, a decrease of -6.5% since last November. This should be alarming for Dr. Gonzi. It's an awkward result for a PM afterall.

The people in this survey cleared out that they are not "mohhom mistrieh" with Gonzi as PM. Also, when people where asked on which party they are likely to vote next election, PN suffered from a decrease of -3.7% since mid January. Results show an increase of 5% of people who are considering not to vote.

Results in this survey give a rough indication on the present situation in Malta. However, these results may also be misleading, as they were taken on a much lower scale than they would have been taken at the proper election time.
